An elegant and original pair of Art Deco period earrings, dating to the circa 1920s–1930s, featuring softly coloured green galalith set in sterling silver mounts accented with marcasite.
The galalith drops display a refined, even sea-green tone typical of early 20th-century production, cut and polished from sheet material. They are suspended from finely worked silver tops, each set with marcasite stones, all of which remain present and secure. The design, materials, and construction are characteristic of authentic Art Deco jewellery, combining modernist form with decorative detailing. Galalith, a milk-based early plastic, was widely favoured during this period as a substitute for ivory and other natural materials.
