A beautifully detailed antique buckle-style brooch dating to the late Victorian or early Edwardian era, featuring elegant hand-engraved scrolling foliate decoration across softly curved ribbon-like panels.
This striking piece has a wonderful sculptural form, designed to resemble a wrapped sash or belt buckle, a style that became fashionable during the late 19th century. The flowing engraved motifs have a lovely Aesthetic / early Art Nouveau feel.
The brooch measures approximately 2 inches long by 1½ inches wide and weighs 11.3 grams. It fastens with an older style pin and clasp to the reverse. A charming antique statement piece that would look wonderful worn on velvet, wool or linen. Good antique condition with age-related wear and patina consistent with age. No visible maker’s marks found.
