A fabulous vintage Metropolitan Museum of Art New York “Night Owl” brooch, beautifully made in sterling silver and presented in its original gold coloured museum box. The other boxes are for display only
This wonderfully expressive owl is set with dramatic black onyx eyes and sparkling clear rhinestones, with intricate openwork feather detailing and an oxidised silver finish which gives wonderful depth to the design.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art describes its Night Owl Pin as based on a 19th-century jewellery design from the House of Robin. The House of Robin was a distinguished 19th-century Parisian jewellery house, founded by Jean Paul Robin (1797–1869) and later continued by his sons Paul and Edouard. The house was known for refined craftsmanship and beautifully executed fashionable jewellery.
